Executive directors report 2020 (PWC)

The year 2020 has propelled us into a unique socio-economic environment, and much commentary has been made about the impact of COVID-19 on all aspects of life as we knew it. Within this context, our Executive directors: Practices and remuneration trends report explores the impact of COVID-19 and the local and global recession on executive remuneration arrangements. Turnaround incentives, pay gaps, retention and engagement of employees, and the incorporation of the all-important ESG measures in pay structures are explored, as we discuss the impact of recent events on the accepted way of remunerating executives, and other employees.

The report analyses executive pay during the period from 1 May 2019 to 29 February 2020, focusing primarily on executive remuneration among companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), and including high-level analyses of executive remuneration in FTSE 100 and 250 companies and in companies listed on seven selected African stock exchanges.
