Agriculture was the fastest growing sector of the SA economy in the second quarter (EN)
The Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy (BFAP) has, in its brief report ‘Perspectives on Agriculture’s Performance in Q2 of 2023’, highlighted the contribution of the agricultural sector to South Africa’s gross domestic product (GDP) during the second quarter of this year (2Q23). While total GDP grew by 0.6%, quarter-on-quarter, agricultural GDP grew by 4.2% over the same period, making it the fastest-growing sector of the South African economy.
